Explore first-, second- and third-order incremental sigma-delta ADCs in MATLAB. Compare CIFF and CIFB, single-bit and multi-bit quantizers, digital decoding filters, and auxiliary-ADC residue conversion in one source-model collection.
Editable .m scripts for architecture study and adaptation—not the Sigma-Delta ADC Designer App, a Cadence library or transistor-level IP.

WHAT IS IN THE ZIP
A collection, not one fixed architecture.
The archive contains 9 model folders, 19 MATLAB files and 11 example PNG captures. The MATLAB file count includes repeated helper functions; it does not mean 19 independent ADC models.
This inventory follows the supplied folder and script names. The auxiliary-ADC examples are the first-order single-bit model and the third-order CIFF single-bit/multi-bit models; not every architecture has an auxiliary-ADC variant.
FILTERS, RESIDUE & ANALYSIS
Follow the conversion through to the decoded output.
Digital filter comparisons
Scripts include cascaded integrator (COI) and sinc decoding examples. The first-order models compare COI1/COI2 and sinc2; second-order models include COI2/COI3 and sinc2/sinc3; third-order models include COI3/COI4 and sinc3/sinc4.
Auxiliary-ADC extension
Three examples add an auxiliary ADC to quantize the final integrator residue. Study the resolution-extension approach and adjust the auxiliary quantizer settings in the source.
Transfer error & FFT study
Input-sweep scripts compare decoded outputs and conversion errors. The second-order single-bit CIFF folder also includes fft_iadc_mapping.m, an example exploring free-running FFT SQNR and incremental-ADC resolution estimates.
Model folders also contain generateEqualAmplitudeZeroSumPulses.m helpers for zero-sum pulse generation. Noise and dither handling varies by script: some noise injection statements are disabled in the supplied source. Review the code before enabling an effect; these are not uniform, validated noise controls across every model.
The scripts and included captures are simulation examples. This listing does not promise a fixed ENOB, measured-silicon performance, or equivalence between static conversion-error resolution and FFT-based ENOB. Results depend on the selected architecture, coefficients, conversion length, input sweep and decoding filter.
MATLAB SIMULATION RESULTS
Conversion error, dither and auxiliary ADCs.
Compare digital-filter conversion errors, dither-enabled results and auxiliary-ADC resolution extension.
MODEL 01
First-order · single-bit
mod1_singlebit.m Filters: COI1, COI2, sinc2
First-order single-bit — conversion error
Conversion error versus input for COI1, COI2 and sinc2 filters.
First-order single-bit — dither enabled
Conversion error versus input for COI1, COI2 and sinc2 filters with dither enabled.
COI3, COI4, sinc3 and sinc4 conversion errors, integrator residue and auxiliary-ADC resolution extension.
MATLAB REQUIREMENTS & FIRST RUN
Choose an example, then work in its folder.
MATLAB is required and is not included. The supplied scripts call normrnd and unidrnd, so their existing random-number code requires Statistics and Machine Learning Toolbox, or adaptation to equivalent functions available in your environment. No particular MATLAB release is certified by this listing.
Extract the ZIP and preserve the model folders and local helper files.
Select a model folder as your MATLAB current folder, or add that folder to the path. Avoid adding every folder at once: several examples share helper and script names.
Open the main .m script from the inventory. Review OSR/conversion length, input sweep, coefficients, quantizer settings and the selected filter.
Run a small input sweep first, then increase coverage as needed. Some default settings create large arrays or long simulations. Several scripts clear the workspace or figures, so save your current work before running them.
This collection is sold separately from the MATLAB App and the Cadence CIFF model. Purchaser-use and redistribution restrictions are described in our terms. For questions, contact sigmadeltastudio@163.com .
